Arthur "Pete" Eugene Erickson
A Caring and Kind Man
Arthur “Pete” Eugene Erickson, age 82, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019.
Mr. Erickson was born March 26, 1936 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to the late Arthur Erickson and the late Ella Mae Sigler Erickson. He had honorably served his country as a United States Amy Veteran and had worked as a machine operator at Tubing Products ,Wheaton Glass in Millville, New Jersey. In 2003 Pete moved to Canton, North Carolina to be near his beloved family. He was a member of Lakeview Church of the Nazarene,Lake Junaluska where he served faithfully as the Church Greeter and Offering Teller. Mr. Erickson held a strong faith and he touched many by encouraging everyone to love and trust Jesus. Blessed with a wonderful personality, he loved people and he was indeed a friend to many. He enjoyed sports and was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and also the Atlanta Braves. Mr. Erickson will forever be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and dear brother. He shall be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Erickson; his sisters, Elizabeth, Marie, Ruth, Esther and Donna and brothers, Walter, John, Donald, and Charles.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie and Herb Burchfield of Canton; a grandson, Michael (Tonya) ; great-grandsons, Andrew (Jessica) and Jacob and a great-great- granddaughter , Lydia all of Canton; a sister, Shirley Erickson of Camphill, Pennsylvania and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 23, 2019 in the chapel of Garrett- Hillcrest Mausoleum located at Garrett –Hillcrest Memorial Park in Waynesville. Pastor Tim Pullin will be officiating. Entombment will follow the funeral service.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Davita Dialysis for their 12 ½ years of wonderful care and also Haywood Hospice for their concern and special care during the last week of Pete’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that a memorial gift be made to one’s favorite charity in memory of Mr. Erickson.
