Betty Jean DeWeese
A Kind and Caring Lady
Waynesville - Betty Jean Dotson DeWeese, age 88, a true lady, loved by all who knew her, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
Mrs. DeWeese was born January 19, 1930 in her grandmother’s home on Fines Creek. She was of the Christian faith and was a graduate of Clyde High School. She had resided in Atlanta and Cincinnati in the 1960’s and 1970’s before returning home to the mountains. Betty worked in the home, loved her family and friends and always had time for them. She was stylish, a great decorator and cook and could entertain with perfection.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.K. Dotson and Georgia Ferguson Dotson Repar, was married for 25 years to the late Stanley (Stan) Bayne DeWeese and was also preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Dotson.
Surviving are three children, daughters, Cathy DeWeese (Walt) of Candler, NC, Pamela DeWeese of Charlottesville, VA and a son, Gary DeWeese (Deb) of Cashiers, NC; her grandchildren, Tiffany Roten (David), Matthew Williams (Corie) and Joshua DeWeese; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Judy Wenzel (Fred) of Waynesville, NC; a brother, J.K. Dotson (Candace) of Franklin, NC; a sister-in-law, Maxine Brown of Waynesville, NC and many friends.
A memorial service for family and friends to celebrate the blessed life of Mrs. DeWeese will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Creekside Villas Retirement Home, Attn: Judy Mills/Betty, 465 Boyd Ave., Waynesville, NC 28786 for activities and the needs of the residents.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Stringfield and his assistant Cindy Clark, Dr. Paul Cutting, Dr. Andy Halberg, Ruby Moore, Dean Ray, Sandra Wines, Judy Mills, the Creekside family and the many volunteers.
