Betty Kegley Owen
Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother
Canton- Betty Lee Kegley Owen, age 87, a beautiful and dearly loved lady, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018.
Mrs. Owen was born November 29, 1931, in Lebanon, Virginia to the late Guy Turner Kegley and the late Goldie May Hughes Kegley. Betty had made her home in Haywood County most of her life and together she and her husband, Bill Owen owned and managed Owen Exxon in Canton for 39 dedicated years. Betty was truly a lady who was always well-liked and loved throughout her community. She never failed to greet everyone with a smile and a special hello each and every day at their place of business and she definitely made anyone who visited the Owen home feel welcome and treated them just as if they were part of the family. Betty was a dedicated homemaker and also a wonderful cook! She loved her home and she especially enjoyed sitting on her back patio and being entertained by watching the hummingbirds that were there so often. Betty was always busy and active and she could be found bowling with friends, walking to keep healthy and it seemed as if she never ever tired of spending hours going shopping. Mrs. Owen was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and truly Betty’s family were her pride and joy. She loved each of them with all of her heart and soul. Together the life that Betty and Bill Owen have shared together is an example for each of us to follow, by serving and giving to their community, by devoting their lives to their family and by sharing 66 years of a wonderful marriage together.
