Boyd Randolph Medford
In Honor and Remembrance
Canton- Boyd Randolph Medford, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 7, 2018.
Mr. Medford was born August 28, 1923 to the late John Medford and the late Clara Cook Medford. He had made his home in Haywood County all of his life and had served his country honorably in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, where he was a courageous tail gunner in the B-25 Aircraft Bomber. Boyd held a strong faith and was a devoted member of Longs United Methodist Church, where he had served on numerous church committees and held various positions in the church all throughout his many dedicated years of serving Longs UMC. He had been employed with Champion International where he retired in 1985 with 41 years of service. Boyd enjoyed spending time outdoors and worked endless hours of keeping his beautiful lawn to perfection. Boyd Randolph Medford will forever be remembered as a man with a true and kind heart and a man always willing to help others. The great love of his family and also the love of his Lord and church remained close to his heart all throughout his life. Boyd has been a blessing to many. Well done thy good and faithful servant.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his son, Joyce Allen Medford and his second wife, Barbara Medford; his twin brother and five sisters.
Surviving are his son, Randy Medford of Canton; his grandsons, Craig Medford of Canton and Brian Medford of Seattle, Washington; a daughter-in-law, Jacque Denton of Astoria, Oregon, six nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews and dear friends, Joanie and Roger Higgins of Canton.
A service of remembrance to celebrate the life of Mr. Medford will be held at 6:00 pm Wednesday evening, October 10, 2018 at Longs United Methodist Church, 1097 Coffee Branch Road in Canton. The Reverend Aryn Williams –Ruebel will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church following the celebration of life service. Inurnment will be held in The Horizon Mausoleum at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Medford’s memory to Longs United Methodist Church, 1097 Coffee Branch Road, Canton, NC 28716.
