Asheville –  On Saturday, September 30, 2017  Carolyn Darlene Yoder Hensley, age 78, left this earthly world and entered into a heavenly place of eternal  peace.

Mrs. Hensley was born July 15, 1939 to the late John H. Yoder and the late Christine McCarson Yoder. She had made her home in Buncombe County all of her life and had been employed as the Chief Financial Officer of the Irene Wortham Center in Asheville. Mrs. Hensley was a faithful member of Summit Church Asheville , having been actively involved with the children’s ministry and where she opened her arms and her heart to children who will never ever forget her. In remembering Carolyn, she could best be described as the sweetest and most caring lady that one could ever know. She reached out to everyone with kindness and she was always there to give of herself to anyone who might need a helping hand.  She enjoyed traveling and her many journeys and pleasure voyages on cruise ships were indeed delightful memories that she treasured.  Her children and grandchildren were blessed by her immeasurable love and Carolyn Yoder Hensley has indeed made a difference in the lives of many. She is an example for each of us to follow. In her memory, perform a random act of kindness and bring a moment of joy to someone’s day.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jean Clemmons and her brothers, Bob Yoder and John Yoder, Jr.

Surviving are her daughter, Angie Jenkins of Asheville; her son, Tony Hensley of Arden; three grandchildren and a brother, Jerry Yoder of Asheville; several special nieces and many dear friends.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Summit Church Asheville. Pastor Jeff Hober will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the memorial service.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff of CarePartners Hospice and John F. Keever Solace Center for their special care and concern for Mrs. Hensley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to  Summit Church Asheville, 12 South French Broad Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Hensley family.
