Clyde - Carroll Gibson Jones, 66, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Mission Hospital St. Joseph in Asheville.

Carroll was among the first classes of students to integrate at Pisgah High School in 1967 and was active in her school’s band until her graduation in 1969. She attended UNC Central in Durham, and worked as an Executive Secretary for Thom’s Cable in Asheville, working her way up through the company until she trained new company offices with Charter Communications in Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina. Carroll enjoyed reading, taking trips with her family to the beach, and spending time with her family at family reunions. She was known to be kind, gentle, sweet and nurturing. She was very supportive of her husband and family, and always professional at work. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Canton.

Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her father, Walter Carroll Gibson, Sr.; uncles, Raymond and Ralph Gibson; aunts, Mary Howell and Doris Owens; and grandparents, Wade and Pearl Gibson, William and Mamie Owens.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Ricky Jones; step-daughters, Amelia Jones and Shannetta Jones of Lakeland, FL; mother, Lois Gibson of Canton; grandchildren, Honesty Bartley, Kentrell Dennis, and Anakin Jones; brothers, Walter Gibson, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Canton, Reginald Gibson and his wife, Mae, of Hickory; sister, Denise Gibson of Asheville; aunts, Judith Rolle, Alpha Bryant, and Chris Gibson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 7 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Williams officiating. The family will receive friends and visitors Friday, April 6 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crawford / Ray Funeral Home Chapel. Committal services will follow at Crawford Memorial Gardens.
