Charles Boyce Greene
A Friend To Many
Clyde- During the early morning hours of Saturday, October 13, 2018, Charles Boyce Greene, age 84, gave up his long battle and went peacefully into the arms of his Lord.
Charles was born August 18, 1934 in Haywood County and was the son of the late Boyce Greene, well known owner of Greene Brothers Well Drilling and his mother the late Maggie Carver Greene Surrett. Mr. Greene had honorably served his country as a United States Air Force Veteran. He had been employed with Champion Paper and had retired from Champion International with 38 years of dedicated service, where Charles made many friendships that have continued to remain an important part of his life. Everyone who knew Charles will fondly recall his love for all types of automobiles and will remember that he was also the owner of Charles Used Cars, which was located in Clyde. Charles Boyce Greene was a man that was well loved and respected in his community and he will be deeply missed by all, especially his " Hardees Breakfast Gang” in Canton which gathered each morning for coffee and fellowship. We give thanks for the life of Charles Boyce Greene, a man who fought a good fight, a man who finished his course and a man who kept the faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Doug Green.
Surviving are his loving wife, Aileen “Poochey” Haynie Greene ; his daughters, Kathy Ray and Tammy Blythe and his step-daughter, Rebecca Keith; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; his sisters, JoAnn Greene and Retha Greene Pace; his brothers, BT Greene and WT Greene and also many friends.
The Greene family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to his sister, JoAnn Greene and his granddaughter, Chanda Greene for the loving care they gave to Charles during his declining health.
A service of remembrance to celebrate Mr. Greene’s life will be held at 7:00 pm Monday evening, October 15, 2018 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Roy Kilby will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
