Canton- Darlene Margie Jolley Briggs, age 76, was carried home by the angels on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

Darlene was born November 8, 1942 in Buncombe County to the late Gilbert Jolley and the late Maggie Kinsland Jolley. She had resided in Haywood County most of her life and had been employed as a nursing assistant.  Darlene was always dedicated to giving her special care and attention to all of her patients, especially infants.  She was blessed with a wonderful personality and she loved everyone. She adored her wonderful neighbors and they all held a special place in her heart. Darlene enjoyed spending time outdoors, working in her garden, feeding the birds and she also loved all animals.  Her quiet hours were often spent reading religious books most often about Jesus and Angels. Darlene was a caring and loving mother and grandmother and she will be deeply missed by all of her family and they will each cherish her written words that were found in her Bible study book. "Where there appears to be lack, God fills the emptiness to overflowing. When there seems to be not enough, God takes what little we have and multiplies it. The miracle of the loaves reminds us that there is a power fay beyond our own limitations. Be well, Love Mom.

Surviving are her children, Barbara Earley of Canton, Becky Jacques of Clarksville, Tennessee, Ben Benfield of Clarksville, Tennessee, Gina Blair of Monterey, Tennessee and B.Jeffo ; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many friends.

To honor Darlene’s  request no formal funeral services will be held.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the Haywood County Public Library, Canton Branch, 11 Pennsylvania Avenue, Canton, NC 28716.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Briggs family.

Condolences from family and friends

I found this note inside her Bible study book. "Where there appears to be lack, God fills the emptiness to overflowing. When there seems to be not enough, God takes what little we have and multiplies it. The miracle of the loaves reminds us that there is a power far beyond our own limitations. Be well, Love Mom" I feel so blessed to have spent the last week of her life with her. Her smiles, laugh, hugging, sharing life stories and watching Animal Planet .. brushing her gorgeous red hair..her giving me motherly advice..seeing her get so excited seeing her grandbabies and most of all just holding her hand and looking into her eyes. Good-bye Mommy
