Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather
Canton- William Dean Willis, age 72, entered into his eternal heavenly home on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
Mr. Willis was born August 31, 1946 to the late William Troy Willis and the late Edna Irene Clark Willis. He had resided in Haywood County all of his life and had honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He had been employed at American Enka Corporation for 10 years before his employment with Champion International / Blue Ridge Paper where he retired with 25 dedicated years of service. Some of Dean’s happiest times were taking vacations with his family to the beachand also fishing at the Outer Banks. He was indeed a true outdoorsman, who loved the mountains where he was born and raised and he also treasured wonderful memories of times spent fishing and being at Lake Chatuge with loved ones and friends. Dean's children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and they will each hold his precious memory in their hearts forever.He will remain a part of each of us.
Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Edna “Boochie” Worley Willis of Canton; his children, Selena Willis of Canton, Michelle Roberts and her husband, Gerald Roberts of Marshall and Jodie Willis and his wife, Lisa Willis of Canton; grandchildren, Hannah Willis and her husband, Jacob, KJ Willis and Haylee Willis; his twin sisters, Annette Paxton and her husband, Terry of Canton and Jannette Willis of Canton; a brother, David Willis and his wife, Sherry Willis of Canton; also his beloved extended family and many special friends.
A funeral service with military honors will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Rocky Face Baptist Church. The Reverend Billy Ferguson and Mr. Jennings Worley will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson Association of the Carolinas, 2101 Sardis Road North, Suite 102, Box 15, Charlotte, NC 28227, The Childhood Leukemia Foundation, 807 Mantoloking Road, Brick Township, NJ 08723 or to a charity of one’s choice.
