Candler-  Douglas “Sam” Rex Kilpatrick, age 76, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 and entered into his glorious heavenly home.

 Mr. Kilpatrick was born April 16, 1941 in Buncombe County. He was the son of the late Jack Darnell and the late Essie Taylor Darnell.  Mr. Kilpatrick had honorably served his country in the United States Navy . He was a lifelong resident of  Buncombe County and retired from Southern Maintenance with many years of dedicated service. Mr. Kilpatrick was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church in Candler. He was an avid reader, especially enjoying reading western novels and he also loved watching his favorite football games on television.  Sam will forever be remembered as a wonderful father and a loving papaw.

Surviving  are his son, Derwin Kilpatrick and his wife, Kelly Warren Kilpatrick of Candler and his granddaughter that was his pride and joy, Alexis Kilpatrick of Candler.

 To honor the request of Mr. Kilpatrick, no formal funeral services will be held.
