Clyde- Edwin “Ed” Olis Allison, Sr., age 78, a man who was loved by everyone blessed to know him, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Allison was born August 18, 1939 in Haywood County to the late Frank Olis Allison and the late Estelle Hyde Setzer Allison.  He was a United States Army Veteran having honorably served his country. Mr. Allison was a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church.  He had been employed with Blue Ridge Paper Products where he retired with 32 years of dedicated service and while working he enjoyed playing softball on the paper mill team with many of his friends . His great love for horses was truly evident throughout his life as he spent many hours horseback riding, participating in horse shows across Western North Carolina, showing horses for other owners and also being a talented farrier for horses.  He enjoyed working on his farm and was always kept busy taking care of his livestock.  The happy memories of Ed fishing, camping and spending time with his family that he deeply loved with all of his heart and soul will be cherished forever by each of them. He held great pride and joy for his children and grandchildren and Ed always had a presence in each and everything that they were involved in during their lives.  He was a man with a good and kind heart, a man who had devoted his life to his family and a man who truly cared about others. A loving husband, a wonderful daddy and a special grandfather, Edwin “Ed” Olis Allison, Sr. has been a blessing to his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Edwin “Eddie" Olis Allison, Jr.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 57 Years, Betty Taylor Allison of Clyde;  his daughters, Estelle Allison Teague ( Terry) of Clyde and Marlene Allison Creary (Benny) of Clyde; grandchildren, Nathan Jones (Shenandoah ) of Clyde, Thomas Teague ( Kristen) of Huntersville, NC, Kyle Creary, Allison Creary, Beth Ann Creary and Morgan Creary all of Clyde; great-grandchildren, Olivia “ Little Tom Tom” Teague, Ariah Jones and Mackenzi Jones; step-great- grandchildren, Dillen Roberts and Zaiden Roberts; his half brothers, Leroy Setzer and Joel Setzer both  of Waynesville and Bobby Setzer ( Anne) of Cullowhee; a half sister, Betty Ferguson of Maggie Valley and many friends.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Allison’s memory to Haywood Hospice and Pallative Care, 127 Sunset Ridge Road, Clyde, NC 28721

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday June 3, 2018 at Woodland Baptist Church. Pastor Jason Speier will be officiating. Burial will be in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde . The family will be receiving friends at Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service from 7:00 until 9:00 pm Saturday evening.

I never met Mr. Allison, but I know his grandson Nathan Jones spoke very highly of him and how he had such a positive influence in his life. My sincerest condolences to the family in this time of grief, know that he had a welcome into Heaven the likes of which we couldn't even fathom.
