Leicester – As the morning sunshine shone upon the mountains on Monday February 5, 2018, Martha Ethel Justice Hudgins passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior.

Mrs. Hudgins was born on September 15, 1926 and had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was blessed with 91 years of a full and wonderful life. Ethel was the daughter of the late John Justice and the late Amy Wright Justice and grew up surrounded by a loving and caring family. Ethel was a devoted homemaker and also a wonderful cook. She welcomed everyone who visited the Hudgins’ home with open arms and delighted in sharing her home-cooked meals with family and friends and whomever might stop by for a visit. Her homemade biscuits were everyone’s favorite! Mrs. Hudgins was a devout Christian and a woman of strong faith. She attended Jones Valley Baptist Church and was a “Prayer Warrior” for neighbors and friends in her community. Ethel Justice Hudgins will forever be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother. As her family gathered around her on the morning of her passing, they rejoiced for her life on this earth and gave thanks that she had entered her glorious heavenly home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Hudgins; her sisters, Minnie Lusk, Gladys Surrett, and Eula Suttles; her brothers, Albert Justice, Raymond Justice and Wilburn Justice; and infant grandsons, Travis and Scott Robinson.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Joyce Robinson and her husband Steve Robinson of Leicester and Judy Swanson and her husband Bruce Swanson of Leicester; grandchildren, Wally Robinson and his wife, Melinda Robinson of Wilkesboro, Ernie Robinson and his companion, Chandra of Weaverville, Wendy McMahan of Leicester, and Bradley Swanson of Leicester; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Big Sandy Mush United Methodist Church in Leicester. Pastor Steve Robinson and Pastor Tommy Dorsey will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be welcoming and receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Sandy Mush United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Keith Wells, 188 Willow Creek Road, Leicester, NC 28748.
