Canton- Freddie Allen Gentry, age 68, a man who was loved by everyone who knew him, entered into his heavenly home on Sunday, April 29, 2018.

Mr. Gentry was born May 11, 1949 to the late Fred Gentry and the late Helen Nelson Gentry. He was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and had honorably served his country in the United States Army. He had been faithfully employed with the Town of Canton, working with the Street Department until his retirement.  Freddie enjoyed camping at Mountain Shadows Campground, trips to Lake Chatuge, traveling throughout the western United States and also his trips to the beach were all happy memories for the Gentry family. He was well known for raising horses and was honored with numerous awards and blue ribbons for his beautiful outstanding horses in various horse shows and events. Everyone was well aware of Freddie’s great pride for his tractor, which he amazingly drove without any brakes! Freddie Gentry will always be remembered as a man who deeply loved his family. He was truly a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was a joy and blessing to everyone who was a part of Freddie’s life.
