Canton- On Tuesday, October 30, 2018, George “Cheyenne Bodie” Maurice Bryson, age 77, was blessed with his eternal homegoing.

Mr. Bryson was born January 15, 1941 and was a lifelong resident of Haywood County. He was the son of late Claude Bryson and the late Modesta Griffin Bryson.  A talented concrete finisher, he had been employed with several construction companies throughout the area. He loved the mountains where he was born and raised and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Watching his favorite wrestling programs on television was one of his favorite past times and he could often be found shopping at local flea markets and attending auctions. His faith was an important part of his life and Mr. Bryson was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. “Cheyenne Bodie” as he was affectionately called by everyone who knew him, was truly a good and kind man with a big and loving heart. His earthly presence will be deeply missed by his loved ones, his church family and his multitude of friends but we give praise that he is now safe in the arms of his Lord and Savior.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Claude Bryson, Jr. and Donald Bryson, Sr.

Left to cherish his memory are his nieces, Viranda Young of Canton and Vivian Smith and her husband, Kevin Smith of Fountain Inn, SC;  nephews, Bernard Bryson and his wife, Keeta Bryson of Canton and Donald Bryson, Jr. and his wife, Meloni of John’s Creek, GA; a sister-in-law, Ann Bryson of Canton ; six great-nieces; five great-nephews; five great-great-nieces and six great-great-nephews; a special cousin, Barbara Howell of Canton; special friends, Junior Robinson of Asheville, James Tucker of Canton and Randy McDowell of Canton ; and also a host of cousins other family members and dear friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 5, 2018 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Reverend William “Billy” Staley will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
