Leicester- Grace Della Surrett Frisbee, age 76, was born May 9, 1943 and went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

She was the youngest daughter of the late Dock Surrett and the late Velma Suttles Surrett. Grace was a proud homemaker and was passionate about gardening, cooking, and canning. She worked hard in her home and garden where not a speck of dust or a weed could be found in either of them. Grace made the best homemade jams and jellies in the entire county and not a birthday would go by without one of Grace’s special homemade cakes sitting on the table.  When anyone came to visit Grace she never let anyone leave her home without taking some of her canned goods with them. She was a tender-hearted woman who felt others pain as well as her own deeply. She was also feisty and worse than a mother bear when she needed to be. No one ever wanted to see her mad, except for her sons and her nephews when they were teasing her and they did that a lot! Grace loved her boys with her whole heart and she never neglected to tell them or show them how much they meant to her.  Her beautiful blue eyes would light up with joy every time she saw her grandchildren. She loved them all deeply and Grace would always try to “fatten them up” before sending them home from their visits. Grace loved God, flowers, plants, gospel music, and Mallow Cups, her stories and also her afternoon naps, which she called “resting her eyes”. Her favorite color of rose was yellow and she was truly a tough woman who could do anything.  Grace would want to be remembered as a Christian and the best mother who would do anything for her boys, grandkids, and her family. She will always be remembered that way because that was Grace and that will always be Grace.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Green; a daughter-in-law, Vickie Goforth and a sister, Blanche Surrett.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Frisbee, loving sons, Phillip Green, Tommy Frisbee (Susie), Steven Frisbee (Kim); grandchildren, Andy Green (Courtney), Jennifer Green, Landon Green (Tasha), Austin Green (Noell), Chase Frisbee (Shelby),Haley Frisbee,Tiffany Honeycutt and John Morlock (Ashley); great-grandchildren , Tyson, Josie Jade, Joey, and Jackson; daughter- in- laws, Krista and Jane; nephews, Dean, Roger, Ronny and David;  a niece, Joyce; two devoted and loving sisters, Gladys Garrett (John) and Ethel Boyd (Glen), Grace could not of asked for two better sisters; and a special family friend, Randy Meadows.

The family would like to extend words of sincere thanks to the staff of the Brian Center of Weaverville for the special care given to Grace. They took care of her and treated Grace just like family. We are forever grateful.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Union Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Union Church Cemetery.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Frisbee family.

We enjoyed seeing Grace at Brian Center while visiting Pauline's mother (Ella Mann). She and Ella knew each other before so they enjoyed each other there. Grace was a very sweet lady. She will definitely be missed but we know where she is and looking forward to seeing her again. Our prayers are with all the family.
