Canton- A dear and precious lady that has touched the hearts of everyone blessed to know her, Isabelle H. Shepherd, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 27, 2017. We celebrate the homegoing of our beloved mother, loving granny, special aunt and wonderful friend.

Isabelle was born April 26, 1926 to the late Thomas Howell and the late Cordia Blythe Howell and she was blessed with 91 years of a full and wonderful life.  She had resided in Haywood County most of her life and her dedicated employment began at the Terrace Hotel located at the Lake Junaluska Assembly, followed by working with American Enka Corporation and later retiring from the Haywood County School System, where she was loved by all students and teachers. Isabelle was a member of the AARP and was indeed an active and proud senior citizen who always believed that it was important to always be prompt and always on time.  Isabelle held a strong faith and love for her Lord and Saviour. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she sang in the church choir, served as a church usher and also as chairman of the church hospitality committee.  She loved Sunday School and being involved as a church missionary. When remembering Isabelle, wonderful and happy memories come to us of her love of traveling and going on tours, her happy personality and always finding a way to be positive each and every day, even when faced with difficult situations in her life.  We remember her great love of life and we will never forget the sound of her delightful laughter, her fun humor and quick wit that she shared throughout her lifetime with her family and dear friends. God places angels on this earth to watch after us and guide us. We feel their love and gentleness as they walk beside us each and every day. They are always there to give a hug or make us smile. To hold us when we have fears and to always try to make things right when things don’t go the perfect way.  Isabelle H. Shepherd, was our angel who loved us with all her heart and we give thanks for life and rejoice for her eternal homegoing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon A. Hall; a son, Kenneth Hall; three sisters and three brothers.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Gloria “ Nita” Ingram and her husband, David Ingram of Winston-Salem; her son, Weldon Boyd Hall and his wife, Jean Hall of Canton; grandchildren, Hope Hall of Charlotte, Kendra Hall-Davis and her husband, Terrail Davis of Clemmons,  Kimberly Smith and her husband, Antwain Smith, of Winston-Salem, Jacquelyn Hall of Cherokee and Jessica Hall of Windsor, CT; two great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons; a great-great-granddaughter and a host of special nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service and homegoing celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.   Burial will be in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde.  The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the family and words of comfort may be shared at www.crawfordray.com.
