James Andrew “Shorty” Brooks, age 75, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, November 5, 2018.

Mr. Brooks was born November 18, 1942 in Buncombe County to the late Clyde and Pansy Brooks and had resided in Candler, NC before making his home in Dunnville, Kentucky . He retired from APAC Carolina with 38 years of dedicated service. Shorty had a true passion for riding motorcycles and he also enjoyed being at his home and spending special time with his family that he loved deeply.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy  Andrew Brooks and his sisters, Edith Randall, Patsy  Brooks and Sarah Roberts

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Mary Frances Brooks of Dunnville, KY; his son, Mike Brooks and his wife, Darlene of Middleburg,KY;  grandchildren, Clyde ( Melissa) Brooks, Collis (Lacey) Brooks, Shea (Corey) Rogers, Justin Brooks and Tucker Brooks; great-grandchildren, April and Weslyn Brooks ; brothers, Horace Brooks of West Asheville, Robert  and Dale Brooks both of Weaverville and a sister, Clara Singleton of Fayetteville.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 10, 2018 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Canton.  Brother Leslie Bentley will be officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6: 00 until 8:00 pm Friday evening .
