Canton –   During the calm and peaceful early evening hours of Thursday, April 26, 2018, James S. Treadway departed this life for his eternal journey into his Heavenly home.  James was a man who loved his family with all of his heart and soul and on this evening his beloved family surrounded him at his Dutch Cove home with their hearts filled with love and compassion for a man who had been a wonderful husband, a proud father and grandfather, a devoted brother and a man who was blessed with a multitude of friends.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, James was born October 16, 1931 to the late Dolphus Luther Treadway  and  the late Grace Ramsey Case.  James was blessed with 86 years of a full and vibrant life.  As a young man  Mr. Treadway proudly enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served his country  in the 82nd Airborne Division.  Following his military career, he became employed with American Enka Corporation where he retired as a foreman with many years of dedicated and loyal service.  James was truly proud of the mountains where he was born and raised and he enjoyed trout fishing among the mountain streams and shared happy memories camping with his family.  A smile could often be seen on his face as he listened to his favorite gospel, bluegrass and country music  and especially music by his favorite artist ,George Jones.  James was indeed a knowledgeable collector of antiques and his impressive classic antique car collection was admired by everyone.  Mr. Treadway was a charter member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church where he was blessed with a loving and caring church family.  James will forever be remembered as a generous man who deeply cared about others and who considered his greatest blessings in life to be his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Henson; a brother, Buster Treadway and a son-in-law, Jon Johnson.
