Canton- Joyce Ann McFalls Stamey , age 73, a lady who was dearly loved, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019.

Mrs. Stamey was born March 11, 1945 in Jackson County to the late Weldon and the Mary McFalls. She had made her home in Haywood County most of her life and was a devoted homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and during the summer season Joyce could always be found working in her garden. Happy memories of spending time at Lake Douglas and also camping will never be forgotten by family and friends.  Mrs. Stamey was a faithful member of Crestview Baptist Church and was also a member of the church choir.  She belonged to the Mountaineer Antique Car Club and one of her greatest joys was the Stamey’s red 1971 F100 Ford truck which she loved to drive.  Joyce always looked forward to attending car shows all throughout the area, where they made many friendships that have meant so much to them all of their lives.  Joyce and Joe Bob were blessed with 33 years of marriage and their faithful devotion to each other should be an example to all of us.  In the words of her family, “No matter what Joyce was doing as long as Joe, the love of her life, was with her, she was happy.”  We give thanks for the life of Joyce McFalls Stamey and what she meant to each of us.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alma Jean Parker; a brother, Clyde McFalls; and a niece, Misty Wood.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Joe Bob Stamey of Canton; her step-children, Marty Stamey (Karen) of Canton, Debbie Murphy of Canton, Danny Stamey of Whiteville, NC and Barry Stamey (Donna) of Lexington, SC;  nine step-grandchildren; five step- great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen McFalls of Sylva; a sister, Hazel Sorrells (Bill) of Waynesville; a brother-in-law, Dickie Parker ; a nephew, Danny Sorrells (Rebecca) of Canton; a niece, Lora Jean Parker  of Waynesville  and her beloved Yorkie, Baby “Jo-Jo”.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Crestview Baptist Church. Pastor Dan Page and Pastor Ned Webb will be officiating. Entombment will be in The Horizon Mausoleum at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde.  The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1:30 until 3:00 prior to the funeral service.  Serving as pallbearers will be Walker and Wes Stamey, Shane, Blake and Chase Clampitt, Danny Stamey, Danny Sorrells, Barry and Marty Stamey.
