Canton- Lawrence “Cobby “ Thomas Caldwell, age 78, entered into his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.

Lawrence was a lifelong native of Haywood County and was preceded in death by his mother the late Sarah Jane Caldwell. He loved the mountains where he was born and raised and he could often be found hunting, fishing and working in his garden.  He loved to decorate for the Christmas season and he had a special love for all children. Lawrence loved the Lord and he always enjoyed listening to religious programs on the radio.  Lawrence was a kind and gentle man and he will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his best friend and lifelong companion, Lucille Revis; sisters, Mary Lee Putnam and Helen Talley and a brother, Rosco Caldwell.

He is survived by Letha Reece ( Nelcy Reece, Jr.) of Canton, who was just like a daughter to him; Donna Trull (Freddie Trull ) of Canton who he loved like a granddaughter; a special nephew, Roger Putnam of Canton and several other nephews that Lawrence loved dearly.

The Caldwell family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Ricky Burgess and also the Williams family for all their love and concern shown to Lawrence for many years.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 19, 2018 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
