Canton- Marilyn Lee Trantham Autrey, age 77, a  beloved caring and giving lady, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019.

Marilyn was born November 23, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan and was the daughter of the late Lee Weaver Trantham and the late Elizabeth Osborne Trantham.  She had resided most of her life in Michigan before making her home in Haywood County in 1995 among the beautiful mountains that she loved.  Marilyn was adored by everyone who knew her and she touched many lives with her kind and giving heart. She was an active and faithful member of Longs United Methodist Church and was committed to the church Back Pack Food Program that was indeed a blessing to so many children in our community. Marilyn was an elegant lady that enjoyed her home and working in her flower garden. She was a member of the Richland Garden Club in Waynesville and was always involved in various community outreach projects.  She was also a dedicated volunteer with Meals on Wheels and her caring presence was like a ray of sunshine to those she visited on her delivery day. Marilyn will forever be remembered as a wonderful wife, a loving mother, and grandmother and also a dear friend to many.  She shall be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Autrey who passed away in 2016 and a brother, Robert Trantham.

Holding her precious memory in their hearts are her sons, James Autrey III of Canton and Sean R. Autrey and his wife, Laura Autrey of Tecumseh, Michigan; grandchildren, Jacob Autrey, Logan Autrey and Oliver Autrey of Michigan.

A celebration of life service for Mrs. Autrey will be held and announced at a later date.
