Winston-Salem - Matthew Richard Calles, age 26, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019.

Matthew was born March 20, 1993 in Longwood, Florida to Hector Ray Calles, and Yvonne Mae Thompson Calles of Clyde.

Matthew was raised in Florida where his natural talent in sports gained him significant attention and notoriety, especially in wrestling and football. He could often be found outdoors fishing, boating, and hiking. Matthew was a graduate of Gulf High School in Port Richey, FL, and was employed in the construction industry where he used his talents of roofing and building. Matthew was a very generous and giving person to the less fortunate, the life of the party, and loved children, especially his niece, Taviana. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and his friends.

In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by his sister, Chelsea Yvonne Calles; and his niece, Taviana Calles.

A memorial service for Matthew will be held Monday, May 6, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Canton. Pastor Jonathan Blaylock will be officiating.
