Candler- Michael “Mike” William Buchanan, age 59, entered into a place of eternal peace and rest on Friday, November 1, 2019.

He was born August 21, 1960 in Jackson County and was the son of the late Vero Buchanan and Mildred Coggins Whetstine and husband, Frank Whetstine of Candler. Mike had made his home in Buncombe County most of his life and was well known throughout the area as a talented automobile and truck mechanic.  Mike had been a dedicated employee of Alliance Tractor and Trailer Center in Hendersonville.  He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter and he enjoyed spending time among the mountains where he was born and raised.  Mike truly loved life and he was blessed with a wonderful personality that brought many friendships into his life. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Surviving are his brothers, Kenneth Buchanan and his wife, Debra of Candler, and Steve Buchanan and his wife, Lynn of Clyde; a sister, Karen Hall and her husband, Robert of Weaverville; his long time companion, Bronsalea Jones of Candler; those he loved just like his children, Alan Jones of Candler and Jeremy Jones (LeeAnn) of Canton; those he loved as his grandchildren, Jada and Kinzley; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends and also his beloved American Bull Dog, “Liberty”.

A service of remembrance to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 9, 2019 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home in Canton.  Reverend Betty Drake will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Peanut Steve & Lynn, Jeremy & Alan, Im so sorry to hear of Mike's passing....I have fond memories of Mike outside when his health was better on the riding mower, revving the motor in the Nova and my favorite memory is him outside with Tiger and Tiger would break free to greet Sheena and I in the driveway after work....we loved that dog and encouraged him to come up.... Peanut honey my heart breaks for you as you know my Rickey's been gone 4 years, 8 months...Im just up the hill if you need ANYTHING.MAY GOD BLESS YOU in the days and weeks to come.

Mike Mike was a big part of our lives and we will miss him. He came up to our house very short time before he passed to get his gun ready for hunting. Mike mike is in that great huntinh ground.

First of all I would like to send Prayers to the Family of Michael.. Kenneth. Steve. Karen As you guys know I have known you guys a LONG TIME. I think we moved to the same road about the same time as you guys did. I know I was 5 . Ill Never forget when I first met you guys you came over to our House and we would ride a Wagon down the Big Long Sidewalk that was in front of our House. Kenneth was the oldest and when he would ride down he would always turn over at the end in Harolds Yard and Play like he was hurt . Me and Michael would Run down the side walk to see if he was ok lol. He always managed to get back up to ride again. This is just the first memory of Hundreds I can Remember . Gosh if I put every memory of ever Softball Game . Football Game . Basketball Game. and Bicycle Race we had I would be on this Computer all Day. This is very hard for me as I know Kenneth. Steve. Karen. Peanut. It is also much Harder on you guys. Kenneth , Steve you guys know what we all have been through.I Know Michael is in a Great Place and no Longer Suffering. I Pray for you guys to continue on as best you can. I Love you Guys Very Much as I Know we will always be Friends. Good Bye Mike Mike I will always have a special place in my Heart for you.
