Canton - Peggy Jo Hipps Cameron age, 83, passed away peacefully at Creekside Villas in Waynesville, NC on Sunday, December 17, 2017. 

Mrs. Cameron was born on May 4, 1934 in Canton NC to the late Herschel and Mary Jo Hipps.  Peggy lived and called Pasadena, Texas her home from 1950 to1986.  She was able to move back to Canton NC in 1986, where she and her husband Duncan enjoyed their home, garden and being closer to her family, friends and also the mountains she loved. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Duncan M.Cameron; brothers, George Weaver Hipps, and David Carroll Hipps; a grandson, John Daniel Wigley and a brother-in-law, Harry Lee Robinson. 

She is survived by children, Pamela Whitlock (Gary) of the Woodlands,Texas, Stephen Morrow (Susan) of Baytown, Texas and Mary Wigley Mittelstedt (John) of Killeen, Texas; sisters, Nancy McDowell (Joe Bob) of Waynesville, NC, Linda Robinson of Greenville SC; grandchildren, Megan Whitlock-Henry (Joe), Matthew Whitlock (Lindsey),and grandchildren, Leila Kaniss, Everyn Whitlock, Huxley Whitlock and John P. Wigley and numerous nieces and nephews.

 The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Creekside Villas for their faithful and loving care. 

 A celebration of life service for Mrs. Cameron will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Rockwood United Methodist Church, 288 Crabtree Mountain Road, Canton NC. Pastor Eric Hill and Pastor Steve Miller will be officiating.   A reception and receiving of friends will be held following the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 931, Waynesville NC.

Revelation 21:3-4 states, "And he(GOD) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". May God give you comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our love ones we will be able to see them again once they are resurrected John 5:28-29. May these scriptures bring comfort and calmness of heart to you during the difficult days
