Canton- Phyllis Ann Robinson Hartness, age 67, a loving and special lady, entered into a heavenly place of peace and serenity on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

Mrs. Hartness was born September 21, 1951 in Dunn, North Carolina to the late Denver Devon Robinson and the late Minna Carnell Boger Robinson.  She had resided in Asheville before making her home in Haywood County, where she has resided most of her blessed life.  Phyllis was loved by everyone that knew her. She had been employed as a server at Clyde’s Restaurant in Waynesville for 17 dedicated years, where she made many friendships that have been an important part of her life. She was also employed in the medical field working as a radiographer at ProMed in Asheville. Phyllis will always be remembered as a very creative and kind lady. She spent many hours reading and enjoying her favorite subject of history and her heart always held a true concern for all animals and their welfare.  We will always have happy memories of Phyllis reminding us that she was a proud, strong and loyal member of the Democratic party.  Mrs. Hartness was a member of Canton Central United Methodist Church. We rejoice for the life of Phyllis Robinson Hartness and will hold her memory forever in our hearts.

Surviving are her loving husband of 47 years, Roderick “Roddy” Hartness of Canton; a daughter, Jenniffer Dall and Craig of Clyde; grandchildren, John Dall of Clyde and Jesse Dall of Clyde; her siblings, Jean Houck and Steve of Summerfield, NC, Doug Robinson and Cindy of Cary, NC and Becky Midyette and Mark of Lake Lure, NC; several nieces and nephews

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2019 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Interment will be in Morning Star Community Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Hartness' memory to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060 or to SARGE’S Animal Rescue Foundation, 256 Industrial Park Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.

Phyllis. You became a huge part of my life many years ago when I was around 12 years old. And I guess it’s almost like you and Roddy took me in and made me a part of your family and gave me the only sister I would ever have. I love you Jen. And my hart is heavy for the family’s loss. But just remember God has a bigger plan for all of us. And I thank you Phyllis,Roddy and Jen for allowing me to be a part of your family. My prayers go out to you guys and the family and I truly greave the big loss with you guys. I love each and every one of you. God speed Phyllis/Mom. Larry
