Ray also loved to sing and sang until his day of passing. In the words of his family, “Ray was a very tender hearted person and he will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.”

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia Seekins Paskell of Sylva ; his daughters, Linda Adamietz of Spokane, Washington, Becky Douglas of Ft. Pierce, Florida and Judith Peek of Cherokee; his sons, Raymond Paskell, Jr. of Sylva and Danny Paskell of Sylva;  many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Mr. Ray will be missed by many people. I will miss him a lot. He always made me laugh with his jokes and his jovial personality. He and wife have been special friends to me for a very long time. The first time I met them I fell in love. He also was a godly man and was at church ever chance he had. I will be praying for the whole family who are left behind. I know you will miss him terribly, especially Mrs. Paskell. Praying for comfort and peace, and happy memories of Mr. Ray. God bless the family.

It was my pleasure to sit with you and your lovely wife when making my way through Blue Ridge. A soft spoken, gentle soul who shared in stories with me. I will never forget their visits. My heart is saddened but his faith took him home! Prayers to all.

He was such a blessing in the lives of everyone he met. I will never forget his daily jokes: What did the left eye say to the right eye? Why are you always right?? He taught us all that it doesn't take much to brighten someone's day. He will be missed and we are praying for comfort for your family.
