Roger Dennis Hill
Canton- During the quiet morning hours of Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2017, a loving husband and wonderful father and grandfather, Roger Dennis Hill, age 70, entered into a place of peace and into his eternal heavenly home.
Mr. Hill was born February 5, 1947 to the late Owen Daniel Hill and the late Hilda Cagle Hill. He was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and retired from Champion International /Blue Ridge Paper with 37 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement he worked with Young Transportation and Tours for 15 years. Roger was a true outdoorsman, he loved the mountains where he was born and raised and nothing brought him more happiness than being outside and working on his farm. Roger seemed to be busy all of the time, restoring antique cars, trucks and even tractors and he was always there to lend anyone in his community a helping hand. Mr. Hill was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. When remembering Roger Dennis Hill, we remember a man who loved his family, a man who had great courage and strong faith, and a man who truly cared about others. He shall be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Hill and also a son, Bryan Hill.
Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Roberta Williamson Hill; a daughter, Amanda Hill Crooks and her husband, Lane Crooks of Aiken, South Carolina; a son, Jason Hill and his wife, Melissa Hill of Canton; grandchildren, Austin Hill, Mackenzie Hill and Evan Crooks; a sister, Shirley Smith and her husband, Tommy Smith of Cramerton, NC and many friends.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held for Mr. Hill at 3:00 pm Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Jeff King will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
