A Man of God

Canton - Beloved and faithful servant, Roy W. Bryson, 65, entered his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at his residence.

A native of Haywood County, he was a member of Crestview Baptist Church, where he enjoyed driving the church van. His life was a true testament to his faith in God as he embodied His teachings. He served loyally but quietly throughout the community in any capacity.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Debbie; his daughter, Sheena; and his mother, Ruby. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Reed Bryson; son, Clayton Bryson; sisters, Jackie Bryson, Carla Messer, and Sherrie Thames; brother, Tim Caldwell; and his grandsons, William and Cody Howell. He also leaves numerous dear and extended family.

Roy worked hard every day and felt fulfilled by a job well done (it wasn’t his way to give half an effort). His skill and vision made him a master gardener, growing flowers and vegetables abundantly. Roy was a master carpenter, whose skill was passed to others when he taught carpentry at Haywood Community College. He served honorably in the US Army from 1972 to 1976, spending three of those years as a Military Police Officer in Germany. When he wasn’t working, he loved to take his grandson, William, out on the boat to fish. His pleasures were honest and simple. His life was lived with humor and spirit and dedication to the Word of God. His Bible was well worn and he carried the Words with him every day.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 6 at 2:00 PM at Crestview Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Page and Rev. Ned Webb officiating. The family will receive friends and visitors from 1:00 to 2:00 PM before the service.

Memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church Master Building Fund, 3258 Pisgah Drive, Canton, NC 28716 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Bryson family. Memories may be shared with the family at
