Clyde- Ruth Elizabeth Sanford Reno, age 68, was received by Jesus Christ into her heavenly home on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Ruth was born September 24, 1950 in Haywood County to the late John Wilson Sanford and Lydia Randall Sanford. She was a graduate of Tuscola High School and of Haywood Technical College. She had formerly been employed as a dental assistant. Ruth was a beautiful and kind lady who loved spending time outdoors. She enjoyed tending her flowers while in her yard and feeding the birds. When not outside, she could often be found reading her favorite books. Mrs. Reno was a faithful and long-time member of West Canton Baptist Church where she joyfully served the Lord, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School classes and also Bible School. Ruth’s precious memory will be cherished forever.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James “Corky” Reno who passed away in 2014; and her sister, Louetta Sanford Hooper.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Shannon Reno Kemp and husband, Ryan Kemp of Waynesville; grandchildren, William David Franklin, IV of Waynesville, and Gracie Elizabeth Franklin of Waynesville; and her brother, Woody Sanford and wife Darlene of Canton.

A funeral to celebrate the life of Ruth will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, April 14th in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Canton. Rev. Jonathan Blaylock will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ruth’s memory to West Canton Baptist Church at 75 Lowe Street, Canton, NC 28716, or to the National Alzheimer's Association at P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.

Shannon and Family and Woody and Darlene, I am sorry about Ruth but then just think she is with our heavenly Father. We became good friends and she was special to me. She always told me she loved me and that meant so much to me. Even at the nursing home visiting her before I left she told me how much she loved me. Sorry I won't be able to come today, however, my thoughts and prayers will be with you.
