Canton- Tildy Jones Putnam, age 73, was carried home by the angels, on Thursday, December 21, 2017.

Mrs. Putnam was born October 6, 1944 in Haywood County to the late William Posey Jones and the late Caroline Sharp Jones.  She had resided in Canton most of her life and was a devoted homemaker and was also employed by The Mountaineer as a newspaper carrier.  Tildy loved to spend time doing word search puzzles, but most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will always be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and a dear friend to those who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Dale Putnam, Sr., who passed away in 1999; a sister, Pauline Williams and a brother, Ronnie Jones.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Paula O’Neal and her husband, Mickey O’Neal of Canton; a son, Roger Dale Putnam, Jr. of Clyde; grandchildren, Roger Dale Putnam, III, Brandon O’Neal and his girlfriend, Kaila, Dakota O’Neal and his girlfriend, Marcey and Pamela O’Neal; great-grandchildren, John Henry, Cheyene Henry, Ayden O’Neal and Paisley O’Neal; two sisters, Susie Gillispie of Canton and Barbara Banks of Candler.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 29, 2017 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Canton. Pastor Chris Jennings will be officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park in Candler.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Putnam family

My deepest sympathy to the family. I can still see Matilda sitting in church at West Canton several years ago. She always had a smile. West Canton lost a sweet member but heaven gained an angel. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.
