Clyde – William “Wild Bill” Wallace Martin, III, age 72, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018.

Mr. Martin was a native of Linwood, New Jersey and was the son of the late William Wallace Martin, II and the late Georgene Fisher Martin. He had resided in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for 27 years before making his home for the past 18 years in Haywood County. Mr. Martin was a Land Surveyor and had served as the Head Party Chief of the surveying team. He was also a certified Harley Mechanic and retired in 2000. His special time of riding his Harley was cherished memories and he achieved a 7000 mile trip with his wife across the country riding is Harley of which he was very proud. Mr. Martin was a lifetime member of the NRA. William attended Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church where he was blessed with many friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Florence Young Martin; daughters, Beth Martin of Oak Ridge, TN and Holly J. Martin of Waynesville; grandchildren, Ivy E. Shipley, Bradford W. Shipley and Gage Forsberg and many cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church. Reverend Jimmy Moore will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Western Carolina Alzheimer’s Association, Asheville Office, 31 College Pl #103, Asheville, NC 28801.
