Alan Clinton Howard
A Kind and Generous Gentleman
Canton- Alan Clinton Howard, age 73, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
Alan was born April 17, 1948 to the late Hubert Lee Howard and the late Blanche Mease Howard. He was born and raised in Haywood County and was a member of the 1966 graduating class of Pisgah High School. Mr. Howard honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring with 23 dedicated years of service. He had also been formerly employed with Little Champion in Waynesville where he worked for 12 years. Alan had resided in Arizona where he attended Hi-Way Baptist Church in Mesa before returning to Haywood County in 2018 to make his home. Alan enjoyed all types of music and he was blessed with the musical talents of singing and playing the guitar. Alan also was a great dancer! He loved all animals, enjoyed bowling, going fishing, and playing bingo every chance he could find. Attending estate and yard sales brought Alan lots of pleasure and he always looked forward to “Going Out to Eat” with family and friends. Alan will forever be remembered as a fun-loving gentleman with a kind and generous heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Stewart.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Bridges; children, David Alan Howard, Michael Alan Howard, Jason Alan Howard, and Edward “Eddie” Alan Howard; several grandchildren; his brother, Jimmie Howard; his sister, Barbara Stockton and husband, Carroll; a special friend, Mike Smathers and wife Carolyn, and many friends.
A Service of Honor and Remembrance with Full Military Honors provided by Shaw Air Force Base will be held at 2:00 pm October 16, 2021 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
