Canton – Arnold Devoid Arrowood, age 84, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023.

A native of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Arnold was born December 17, 1938 to the late Tommie D. Arrowood and the late Juanita Hill Arrowood.

Arnold graduated from Travelers Rest High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Furman University, later earning his Master’s degree. He had been employed at New York Life Insurance Company, before finding his true calling in helping the communities where he lived. As a young man, Arnold started the first Balloon Festival in Burlington and his love for his community continued throughout his career.   Mr. Arrowood was employed as an economic developer for Chambers of Commerce in a number of communities and states, the last of which was Waynesville, where he had also served as President.  He was deeply committed to his work and was passionate about helping communities grow and prosper. Arnold had a profound intellect and understanding of many subjects and was generous in working with others to help them thrive in their own endeavors. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was an avid reader and lifelong learner of Christian theology. Mr. Arrowood was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Rotary Club where he also contributed to benefit the lives of others around him. As we remember Arnold Arrowood, let us also make efforts in our own lives to continue to strengthen the lives and communities around us.
