Canton – Betty Agnes Cogburn Holland, 89, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Mission Memorial Hospital.

Betty was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late J. Boyd and the late Jennie Burnett Cogburn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Marion Holland.

Betty was a beautiful and elegant lady who also had a fun and feisty personality. She enjoyed going to Hardee’s every morning, visiting and sharing stories with other members of “The Hardee’s Breakfast Club.” Mrs. Holland was the owner and operator of Tar Heel 4x4 for many years before her retirement. She was a wonderful cook, and her homemade biscuits were a favorite among all of her family. Betty was a wonderful mother and Nana, and her precious memory will be held in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren forever.

She is survived by three sons, Terry Tew and wife Ginger of Clinton, Jim Holland and wife Susan of Oviedo, Florida, and Keith Holland of Canton; six grandchildren, Ashley, Doug, Jonathan, Justin, Karen, and Megan; six great-grandchildren, Rhett, Ryder, Scott, Madison, Grayson, and Regan; and many dear friends.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Betty’s residence. Please contact Keith or Ashley for more information concerning the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans at P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250 or to the American Cancer Society at 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
