During the quiet early morning hours of January 29, 2024, Brenda Elaine Haney Stroupe, age 75, passed away peacefully and entered into God’s Eternal Care.

She was born April 9, 1948, in Haywood County to the late Ralph Painter Haney and the late Beatrice Shetley Haney. Brenda was blessed with a loving and compassionate heart and all throughout her life she has been an inspiration to many. She had made her home in Haywood County most of her life and had been employed with Lea Industries in Waynesville, Champion Dye and Finishing in Asheville, E-Z Stop in Clyde, and also Ingles in Canton where Brenda retired as the Video Department Manager. Everyone blessed to know Brenda loved her dearly. She was a wonderful person and her kind personality and her sweet smile will always be remembered. Brenda loved to sew, work in her flower garden and she was also an amazing cook. Her delicious homemade dressing was the best ever and her egg salad and deviled eggs were favorites of everyone. Brenda was a joy and she brought so much happiness into the lives of her children and grandchildren.  A special memory she often shared with her family was going fishing with her Daddy when she was younger. Brenda loved to ride golf carts, go camping at Mingo Falls in Cherokee, and spend time at Cades Cove in  Tennessee with her family. These are all cherished happy memories.

Most importantly, Brenda was a devout Christian. She was a member of Full Gospel Christian Fellowship Church in Waynesville where Brenda had also served as one of the ministers.  She was not only a minister in her church but in her daily life. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, who has prepared a place for her in his heavenly home. The last precious words that Brenda spoke to her son were, “I love you to Heaven and back” and these words will be held in the hearts of Brenda’s family forever. She shall be deeply missed each and every day.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Robert Stroupe who passed away in 2016, and a great-granddaughter, Elaina Grace.

Surviving are her children, Jerry Wilburn (Mica Wilkey) of Franklin, Joy Stepp of Waynesville and Lee Stroupe of Waynesville; grandchildren, Cheyenne Smith (Dylan), Hunter Smith (Emma) and Chris Wilburn (Autumn); a great-grandchild, Kaisley; a brother, Junior Haney (Marie) of Joanna, SC; a niece, Dee Haney; a nephew, Heath Haney; also her special little dog, Cinnamon; and many dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Full Gospel Christian Fellowship Church, 375 Allens Creek Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.  Pastor Neal Roland will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Stroupe family.
