Carl "Glen" Boyd
Deeply Loved; Always Remembered
As the sun rose on Sunday morning, May 23rd, Carl Glen Boyd, age 81, of Buncombe County, went home to be with the Lord.
Glen was born June 26th, 1939, to the late Conley Francis Boyd and Violet Pounders Boyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Morris Boyd.
Glen served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959. After his service, he went on to be a truck driver. He spent the majority of his career at Carolina Freight and retired from ABF after 29 years.
Throughout his life you could find Glen around the farm. From growing up working on dairy farms, to growing tobacco with his family, and spending his later years raising cattle and putting up hay, he knew what hard work was and spent his life enjoying what God had blessed him with.
Glen loved to tell stories of the good ol’ days with his family. His jokes and shenanigans would always put a smile on your face. The love of storytelling was passed down to his sons and grandsons, so we know the tales he shared will live on for days to come.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ethel; and his two sons, Ronnie Boyd, and Roger and wife Shannon Boyd. He leaves behind his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Joshua Boyd (Shelby) and Jacob Boyd; along with his great-grandson, Riley Jackson Boyd. He is also survived by his brothers, Gary Boyd (Pat), and Lyle Boyd (Juanita); and sister, Janet Webb; along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 27th at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service. Memorials can be made to the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church at 158 Boyd Cove Rd. Leicester, NC 28748.
Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Boyd family.
