Carroll Eugene "Gene" Woods
Forever In Our Hearts
Carroll Eugene "Gene" Woods, age 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026. He was born on June 5, 1942, to the late Howard Woods and Lucille Woods.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Woods; his sister, Betty Sue Woods; and his brother, Charles Woods.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Linda Gibson Woods, his devoted wife of 35 years; his children, Roger Woods (Kathy), Randy Woods (Apryl), Amy Woods Deaver (Victor), Carl Warren, and Cindy Rogers (Kenny). Gene was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Ray Reece, along with many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Gene was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He dedicated more than 30 years of service to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he served as the supervisor of the road oil crew. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working at the Cruso Recycling Center, where he made countless friends and was known for his kind spirit and welcoming smile.
He loved the simple things in life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, took great pride in growing a garden each year, never missed an episode of Gunsmoke, and never turned down a plate of cornbread and taters. He found joy in hard work, the outdoors, and time spent with those he loved most.
Above all, Gene will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His steady presence, quiet strength, generous heart, and love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A private family service will be held. A graveside service, open to all family and friends, will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Gage Deaver, Tanner Rogers, Kohen Frady, Josh Noland, Corey Stiltner, Clayton Noland, and Hunter Lear.
A special thank you to the Four Seasons Hospice Care Team for all of the care and compassion given to our family during this difficult time. We appreciate each and every one of them.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
