So Dearly Loved

Photo of Cathy Brooks Best - 1961-2023

Canton- In the peaceful evening hours of  Sunday, March 12, 2023, our beloved Cathy Lou Brooks Best, entered into her glorious place in Heaven.

Cathy was born March 10, 1961 and was the adored daughter of Lillian “Lil” Clevenger Brooks and the late Floyd Brooks who passed away in 2013. She made her home in Haywood County all of her life and was always surrounded by a multitude of friends growing up. Cathy was a proud member of the 1979 graduating class of Pisgah High. To know Cathy was to love her. She never met a stranger and Cathy was blessed with a huge giving heart that touched so many throughout our town and the entire county. In her early working career, she had been employed in the medical records department at Canton Nursing Home for several dedicated years before entering into her true calling as a floral designer. As she followed in her parents' profession, Cathy became an outstanding floral designer, creating lovely flower arrangements for every occasion, and her giving heart always made certain that those who were less fortunate never went without beautiful flowers. She owned her own flower shop for many years and had also been employed as the floral manager at Ingles in Canton. Cathy was a member of High Street Baptist Church.

In remembering her, we shall never forget how she has faced every turn in life with strength, purpose, and spirit. We rejoice knowing she is now at peace and in her Heavenly home. Her greatest love was for her family and she was so proud of each of them and they shall forever carry happy and wonderful memories of Cathy. “Today and forevermore as we look across a  flower garden, in each beautiful flower, we shall always see you.” You will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her loving husband, Ronnie Best of Canton; her mother, Lil Brooks of Canton; sons, Josh Best (Danielle) of Clyde, and Justin Best (Amy) of Canton; grandchildren, Gracie, Knox, Emma, and Owen; and a host of dear friends.

A Service of Remembrance to celebrate Cathy's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at High Street Baptist Church in Canton. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00. Pastor Chris Willett will be officiating.

Memorials may be made in Cathy's memory to Shriners Children's Hospital at 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Best family.
