Charles James Summey, Jr. age 67, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in South Carolina.

A native of Haywood County, Charles was the youngest and only son of the late Charles Summey, Sr. and the late Novella Dunbar Summey.  Charles had been a dedicated employee of Carolina Metals in Asheville for several years. He loved NASCAR and he was Dale Earnhardt’s No#1 fan. He enjoyed spending time outdoors among the mountains where he was born and raised and going fishing every chance he could find. In his relaxing time Charles could be found watching wrestling.  He will forever be remembered as good and kind man and his precious memory will remain with his family and friends forever. We rejoice that Charles is in his Heavenly home on this day.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Karen Harvey who was the mother of his only son, Michael Allen Harvey, and who passed away in 2003, 19 years and 364 days before Charles; also his beloved sister, Era Lela Pless.

Surviving are his loving wife, Denise Summey and his only son, Michael Allen Harvey both of the home; his sisters, Margie Ann Gunter of Canton and Kathy Summey of Waynesville; step-daughters, Teressa Harvey of Clyde, Heather Early of Rocky Mount, NC and Jennifer Sluder and wife, Denise Sluder; his nephews, Sam, Mickey and Steven Pless, Jonathan and Wayne Jenkins; several cousins and many close friends.

To honor the request of Mr. Summey, no formal funeral services will be held.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Summey family.
