Charles Seifert Talman, Jr., 59, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

Born in Asheville, North Carolina, on October 13, 1966, Charles was the son of Carole Hayes Talman of Canton, North Carolina, and the late Charles Seifert Talman of Cosby, Tennessee. He graduated from Pisgah High School in 1986.

Known affectionately as Charlie, he will always be remembered as one of the Pisgah Bears' most faithful fans. From the age of 14 until his passing, he attended every home football game for 45 consecutive years. Whether the Bears were celebrating a championship season or enduring a difficult one, Charlie never wavered in his support. Rain or shine, victory or defeat, he was always there—first in line when the ticket gates opened at 5:30 p.m. and often the last to leave the stadium. His steadfast loyalty and familiar smile made him a cherished fixture of Friday nights at Pisgah.

Charlie worked for many years at Talman Office Supply in Waynesville and Asheville, where he became a familiar face to customers and coworkers alike. Whether working in the stockroom, making deliveries, or helping install office furniture for local businesses, he took pride in being dependable and hardworking.

Charlie also had a lifelong love of swimming, a passion that began during countless summers spent at his family's houseboat on Fontana Lake in the quiet cove at Greasy Branch. His love of swimming led him to compete in the Special Olympics, where he proudly earned a second-place medal in swimming at the North Carolina State Games.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Charles Seifert Talman.  He is survived by his mother, Carole Talman; his sister, Elizabeth (Wendell) Ball of Youngsville, North Carolina; his niece, Rachael Ball; his nephew, Creighton Ball; and Cody Talman, son of Charles and Kaye Talman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Canton, North Carolina, with the Reverend Karen C. Barfield officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sarge's Animal Rescue, Inc., 256-B Industrial Park Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.

Crawford/Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is deeply honored to be caring for the Talman family.
