Candler- A beautiful and courageous angel, Christy Lynn Bridges Craig, age 43, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

Christy was born June 12, 1976 in Henderson County, North Carolina and was a 1994 graduate of Brevard High School.  She later made her home in Buncombe County where she had resided for the past 23 years. Her faith was an important part of her life and she attended Luther Pentecostal  Church in Candler. Christy was a talented baker and a master cake decorator and everyone admired her amazing cakes that she created as she worked for Ingles in Black Mountain. She was a very gifted young lady and she could accomplish anything that she set her mind to do. She was a talented artist, enjoyed scrapbooking and also photography. During her quiet hours, she could often be found reading, especially her Bible. We give thanks for Christy Craig and the lessons of love, courage, and faith that she has taught us.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Bridges, Jr.; paternal grandmother, Marguerite Bridges; her maternal grandmother, Hazel Austin, and her maternal grandfather, Perry “Bud” Austin, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Terry Austin Justus of Candler ; her loving and devoted husband of 15 years, Gregory Craig of Candler; her children, Evelyn Popelka  (Zackery) of Candler, and the twins, Carlos and Luis McDaniel of Asheville; 2 little grandchildren that are blessings on the way; a sister, Tina Bridges and Rick of Ridgeland, South Carolina; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces, Ciera (Isaiah), Ariel and Willow; nephews, Mateo, Stephen, and  Keith, and also many dear friends.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Luther Pentecostal Church in Candler. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Reverend Betty Drake and Reverend Steve Meadows will be officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorial s may be made in Christy’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
