Clyde- A kind and caring lady, Cindy Lou Hill Latham, age 67, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Cindy was born June 4, 1953 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Jeff Ellis Hill, Sr. and the late Irene Haire Hill, and was blessed to have been raised in a large family with several brothers and sisters. She had made her home in Clyde, North Carolina since 1978 and retired from the Haywood County School System in 2009 where she touched the lives of multitudes of children while working as a teacher assistant. Cindy adored children and she truly was an example of someone who cared about her students and always encouraged them to strive to be the best that they could be.  She was a very talented artisan and enjoyed making all types of beautiful handmade crafts. Her flower garden brought her great joy and Cindy spent endless hours working among her plants and flowers.  The love she held in her heart for her family was immeasurable and her greatest achievement in life was being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Cindy truly dedicated her life to her family. Her life’s journey has blessed so many and we give thanks and rejoice for her loving presence on this earth. We will miss her deeply.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Gary Latham of Clyde; her children, Gary Latham and Darla of Candler, Malissa Adams of Lexington, and Andrea Stanley and Peter of Clyde; her grandchildren, Dewayne, Whitney, Hannah, Sarah, Casey, Samantha, Pearson, Brennan, Steven, and Cooper; her great-grandchildren, Carter and Ayden; her special niece, Sheila Hunter; special friends that Cindy loved like her own children, Tammy and Eddie Maney; also her beloved Maltese dog, “Charlie”, and many dear friends.

As we honor the request of Cindy, no formal funeral services will be held.

Memorials in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for Cindy and the Latham family.

Condolences from family and friends

The most beautiful lady, inside and out. My favorite aunt. The only person who never judged and was always an uplifting special spirit. I have so many beautiful memories of this lady. I will miss having our visits making crafts, discussing artworks and going to yard sales, having iced tea with her on the porch and fussing about the bugs. The memories of her picking me up at school decked out in all the yard sale treasures she could load on! From fur hat, fur stole, long red dress, jewels galore !! So many laughs and all good memories with this lovely lady. She loved me as she did so many, without question or judgment. She loved my children. She blessed us all with her loyalty, laughter and her love. In the end she was blessed by getting her wings peacefully as she slept without worries or pain. Gary, Ms., Andi and Casey, I love you all for being there and taking good care of aunt Cindy.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I remember her & Gary fondly from when they were my landlords back in the early 90s. She & Gary were so good to Kayla & Kristen and my girls loved them like crazy! Best landlords (and friends) you could ever ask for. Cindy has & always will hold a special place in my heart. I will miss her very much & all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
