Clyde Harold Franks
In Honor and Remembrance
Tuckasegee- Clyde Harold Franks, age 90, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020.
Clyde was born at home in the Big Ridge Community of Glenville on January 11, 1930 to the late Lewis Bert Franks and the late Floda Mae Hooper Franks. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and had honorably served his country in the United States Army. He had been employed as a truck driver in the construction industry for many dedicated years. Clyde loved spending time outdoors and he was indeed an avid fisherman. He spent many hours listening to radio broadcasts of major league baseball games and was also a dedicated fan of the early years of NASCAR. We give thanks for the life of Clyde Franks and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
Surviving are his children, Susan Darlene O’Neal of Rockfort, MI, Sherry Belinda Nicholson of Benton Harbor, MI, Harold Brent Franks of Cullowhee, Gregory Shane Franks of Benton Harbor, MI, and Dean Clyde Franks of Franklin; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Opal Lee Bryson; his girlfriend, Norcella S. Massingale; and his former wife and mother of his children, Rachel of Benton Harbor, MI.
A funeral service to honor and remember the life of Clyde will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Promise Land Baptist Church in Cullowhee. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Hamburg Baptist Church Cemetery in Glenville. Due to the ongoing safety concerns of the Covid-19 pandemic, we ask that attendance be limited to 50 individuals, and that all in attendance be respectful of the health concerns of themselves and of others.
