Canton - Danny Thomas Greene, age 74, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Thursday, April 8, 2021 with his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Greene, by his side.

Danny was born March 30, 1947 in Watauga County, and had resided most of his life in Haywood County. He was preceded into heaven by his parents, Perry Greene and Hazel Shore Greene; and by his brother, Larry Greene.

Mr. Greene was employed by Evergreen Packaging in Canton and had retired after 44 years of dedicated service. He was a gifted blacksmith and skilled woodworker, and enjoyed spending time in his shop working on projects. Danny had a loving heart and was always there to help others in need. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and was devoted fully to his family and to Jesus. His last words to his loving wife were “Jesus does love me” and this brings all of us comfort and peace as we give thanks for his blessed life. Danny will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Danny is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Greene; daughter, Debra Holder (Kerry); two granddaughters, Jamie West (Jeff), and Stephanie Millsaps (Tim); four great-grandsons, Jabin, Josiah, Malachi, and Griffin; two brothers, Bill Greene (Kay), and Norman Greene (Melissa); one sister, Donna (Ken); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Pinnacle Church in Canton. Rev. Larry Sprinkle will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church following the service.

Memorials may be made in Danny’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.

Dear Linda and family, We are so sorry to hear of Danny’s passing. He was a gentle man with a kind spirit. I’ll never forget one Sunday when I taught our Sunday school class. He came up and told me that he enjoyed my teaching more than anything. He never knew how much I needed to hear that. God bless each of you, we were blessed to have known him.

I have a lot of fond memories of Danny, from work, church, and a mission trip once. He was skilled in so many areas, and always ready to use those skills to help someone. One memory I'll never forget, a lady in church had a problem with her range, Danny and I went to look, Danny started cutting and removing wires from back of the range, I didn't have a clue what he was doing, but it worked. Praying for you all.
