A Beloved Wife, Mother, and Grammy

Photo of Deborah Dies DeWeese - 1959-2022

Our dear mother, Deborah “Deb” Lynn Dies DeWeese (63), passed away peacefully in the mountains of North Carolina on Thursday, November 17, 2022 surrounded by friends and family.

She was the daughter of Duane Dies and Betty Carlson Carter and was a graduate of North Scott High School in Eldridge, IA. She enjoyed genealogy, gold and gem mining, and jewelry making.  Her greatest joy was being Grammy to her four grandchildren and a big sister to her 3 siblings.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter Michelle Coley (Kevin) and her son Joshua DeWeese (Amber), her step-mother, Gudrun (Maggie) Dies, her siblings Pamela Dies Bromell, Karla Dies Petty, and Eric Dies (Karri), her four grandchildren John Henry, Chloe, Emma and Xavier, and multiple nieces and nephews. She also left behind many beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Duane Dies; and her beloved husband of over 23 years, Gary DeWeese.

The Lupus Foundation and The Wounded Warrior Project are causes that were near and dear to mom and Gary.  In lieu of cards and flowers, please make a donation in their names if you feel to do so.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the DeWeese family.

Condolences from family and friends

We will all miss the twinkles in her eyes, her sweet laugh and her amazing will to over come no matter what. Deb was always so proud of her family and loved them dearly. I am thankful we were able to visit before her passing and chat a bit. May all of your wonderful memories get you through this most difficult time. Hugs to all. Cathy DeWeese

Deb was an amazing human being. She persisted through the many trials life sent her way and found joy as her reward. She was infinitely loyal to family and friends. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, especially when she knew it would benefit those around her. She loved her kids, grandkids, husband, friends, and dogs. We are all richer because of the light of her spirit and the strength of her character. Her life is an example for those she left behind to follow.
