Canton – Della Maude Pace Watson, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 9, 2015.
Della was born June 30, 1932 in Haywood County to Lonnie F. Pace and Lillie Mae Pace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 15 brothers and sisters; her daughter, Lisa Kirkpatrick and her son, Larry D. Watson.
Surviving are her husband, John Howard Watson, five grandchildren, Sydni Anger, Leslie Wood, Amy Bruner, Tyler Kirkpatrick and Gabe Kirkpatrick and his wife Angelica Kirkpatrick; daughter-in-law, Kathi Watson; four great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews.
Della was a member of High Street Baptist Church in Canton and loved being involved with the church family and as a member of the Women’s Mission Union. With her sister, Hazel and Carrie Nell Pace, the trio performed at many Canton churches singing gospel music when she was growing up. She won the blue ribbon at the state fair for her crocheting, and shared her loved with her family and friends with her talent for being an extraordinary cook. Her wonderful sense of humor, quick smile, loving kindness and giving spirit will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2014 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home. Reverend Christopher Willett will be officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
