Canton- Dorothy “Dot” Ledford Cable, a beloved mother and grandmother, age 92, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

A native of Haywood County, she was born February 13, 1927 to the late Joseph O. Ledford and the late Helen Hicks Ledford. Dorothy loved the mountains where she was born and raised and was a member of the 1945 graduating class of Canton High School. Her faith was an important part of her life and she was a lifelong member of West Canton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 50 dedicated years.  Mrs. Cable was a talented seamstress and quilter and was honored with being a former member of the Dogwood Crafters in Dillsboro. She was indeed a talented artisan and her beautiful handmade quilts were admired by everyone. Dot was also a wonderful cook and her delicious homemade fruit cake was indeed a favorite of family and friends.  Our beloved Dot devoted her life to her family and her church and her life has been a blessing to so very many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred “Tommy” Cable; and a son, Michael “Micky” Bruce Cable.

Surviving are her children, Peggy McClure (Ken) of Candler, Polly Wright (Bob) of Candler, and Joseph “Joe” Cable (Linda) of Lexington, KY; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A gathering for family and friends will be planned and announced at a later date.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Cable family.
