In Loving Memory

February 17, 2015.

Mrs. Pressley was born October 7, 1928 in Haywood County to the late Thurman Jackson and the late Nellie Rogers Jackson. She was a devoted homemaker and had also been employed at Martin’s Drug Store and Jack’s 5&10 Variety Store in Canton. Mrs. Pressley attended Rocky Face Baptist Church. She was indeed a wonderful cook and she was well known for her delicious prune cake. Cornbread and ”soupy potatoes” were also two dishes that Mrs. Pressley loved to prepare for her family and in her later years her family continued the tradition by making certain that these country favorites were always made for her. Many afternoons and evenings Dorothy could be found watching television – enjoying soap operas, that she referred to as “her stories”, The Andy Griffith Show and even wrestling! Mrs. Pressley deeply loved her family and their treasured trips to the mountains of Smokemont and the happy summer picnics that they shared are memories that will be cherished forever.
Dorothy Jean Jackson Pressley was a kind, caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother who shall be deeply missed, but will remain in our hearts forever.

You can have only one mother,
patient, kind and true
No other friend in all the world,
Will be the same to you……

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Pressley who passed away in 2004; a son, Eddie King; a son-in-law, Jim Chambers; three sisters and three brothers.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 22, 2015 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home with the Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with grandsons and great- grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
