Canton- Edith Ellen Davis Stamey, age 88, entered into her eternal Heavenly home on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

Edith was born February 21, 1932 to the late James Harrison Davis and the late Novella Reed Davis. She had resided in Canton most of her life but for the past eleven years she had made her home in Buncombe County.  Mrs. Stamey had been a former employee of Dixon’s Little Boy in Canton and she had also been employed with Ramada Inn in Asheville. Edith enjoyed shopping trips to Walmart almost every day and she kept busy during the summer season gardening and working among her beautiful flowers.  Mrs. Stamey was a member of Canton Wesleyan Methodist Church.  She loved all of her family deeply and the special time that she shared with her grandson were precious memories that they both treasured. We give thanks for the life Edith Davis Stamey who was a loving mother, a wonderful grandmother, and a dear sister.  "The memory of a good person is a blessing." -Proverbs 10:7

She was preceded in death by late husband, James Calvin Stamey who passed away in 1996; her sons, Roger Dale Stamey, and Ronnie Stamey; and also several brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, James Steven Stamey and his wife, Bregilda of Virginia and Randall Keith Stamey and his wife, Paula of Swannanoa; grandchildren, Josh Stamey and wife, Haley of Cherryville, and Tiffany Atkins of Petersburg, VA; great-grandchildren, Kelsie Osborne, Owen Osborne, and KK Osborne; and a brother, Donnie Davis and his wife, Doris of Canton.

Miss Edith was a very special lady. It was my honor to care for at night over the last few years. She is one person that I have missed since my retirement. Some times I would be having a rough night and out of no where I would feel arms go around me and give me a hug. She was so thoughtful. I will be keeping all of the family in my thoughts and prayers.
