Canton – Edwin “Sam” W. Chambers, age 80, passed away on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2020.

Sam was born August 4, 1940 in Haywood County to the late Theodore Chambers and the late Genevieve Long Chambers. Sam honorably and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was employed with Champion Paper and Fibre Company where he retired with many dedicated years of service. Sam was indeed a friend to everyone, and he loved his family with all of his heart. Our hearts are saddened as we no longer have Sam with us, but we rejoice that he is in Heaven on this glorious day.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny, Harold, and Bill; and a sister, Norma Jean.

Surviving is his loving wife of 51 years, Leta Reece Chambers; daughters, Karen (Eric) Bromby, and Darlene (Charles “Foozie”) Dills; four grandchildren, Shayne (Linton) Wheeler, Charles (Lindsey) Dills, Taylor (Richard) Campbell, and Hunter (Madison) Bromby; three great-grandchildren, Drayan Dills, Taygun Dills, and Judah Campbell; and also several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Rev. Kenneth Rhinehart will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Bromby, Foozie Dills, Charles Dills, Linton Wheeler, Sam Reece, Drayan Dills, and Taygun Dills. Honorary pallbearers are Butch Reece and David Reece.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Sam Chambers to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Chambers family.
